We are a computational neuroscience lab that is focused on understanding how populations of neurons coordinate their activity to perform computations. The guiding question we are interested in is “What are the features of neural population activity that are important for understanding the dynamics of behavior?” We answer this question with two, parallel approaches: 1 – New data analysis tools for useful, compact descriptions of neural activity vis-a ́-vis ever larger scales and complexity of data. 2 – New theoretical frameworks for understanding the computational significance of these statistical descriptions. We take a collaborative approach to research and enjoy partnering with our experimentalist colleagues.

We are now searching for motivated and curious students at both the MS and PhD levels.
